Landing Page Builder Comparison: Unbounce vs Webflow vs GHL vs Next.js

Unbounce, Webflow, GoHighLevel or a coded Next.js page. Four scenarios, four different right answers, from an agency that ships on three of them every month.

The right landing page builder depends on two things: how often you ship, and how much control you need. Unbounce fits teams running constant paid tests. Webflow fits design-led brands. GoHighLevel fits anyone who owns the CRM too. A coded Next.js page fits campaigns where load speed decides the cost per lead.

We run campaigns on three of these four every month at Neogen Media, and we have inherited client accounts built on the fourth. What follows is not a feature table scraped from vendor sites. It is the decision we actually make when a client says "we need a page live for this campaign".

Which landing page builder is right for you?

Pick by scenario, not by feature count. Every builder here can produce a page with a headline, a form and a button. What separates them is week six, when you have twelve variants live, three campaigns running and a sales team asking why the lead source column is empty.

  • You run paid media constantly and test copy weekly: Unbounce or Leadpages.
  • Your brand lives or dies on visual craft and the page is part of a larger marketing site: Webflow.
  • You need the page, the CRM, the follow-up SMS and the booking calendar to be one system: GoHighLevel.
  • You are spending serious money on ads and the page needs to load in under two seconds on a 4G phone in a tier-two city: a coded Next.js page.

What does a landing page builder actually cost you?

The monthly sticker price is the smallest part of the cost. What decides your three-year spend is the shape of the plan: whether it caps traffic, caps published pages, charges per seat, or charges per sub-account. Two tools at the same headline price can differ several times over.

  • Traffic caps: some plans meter visitors. A campaign that works can push you into a higher tier mid-month.
  • Per-seat pricing: if your designer, your media buyer and your client all need access, seats compound.

A coded page inverts this. You pay once to build, then near-zero hosting, with no cap on traffic, pages or seats. The tradeoff is that every change goes through a developer instead of a marketer, which is a real cost if your team iterates weekly. All four vendors change pricing, so check current list prices before you commit.

When is Unbounce worth the subscription?

Unbounce earns its price when you are testing continuously. Built-in A/B testing, traffic routing and popups mean a media buyer can launch a variant without touching a developer. If your team ships more than two or three new page variants a month, that speed pays for the subscription on its own.

Where it stops making sense: evergreen pages that never change. Paying a subscription to host one static page you last edited in March is the most common waste we find in an inherited account. If you are not testing, you are renting an expensive page host.

When should you use Webflow instead?

Webflow wins when the landing page has to match a carefully designed brand and the same team maintains both. It gives you real control over layout, typography and interactions without writing code, and the page can live inside your main site rather than on a separate subdomain.

The catch is the learning curve. Webflow is closer to a design tool than a page builder, and it expects you to understand the box model, flexbox and breakpoints. A media buyer who just wants a variant live by Friday will not get there alone.

Why do we build most client landing pages in GoHighLevel?

Because for lead generation, the page is the least interesting part of the problem. What matters is what happens in the ninety seconds after someone submits the form. GoHighLevel puts the page, the CRM, the automated SMS and WhatsApp follow-up, and the booking calendar in one system, with no integration to break.

When a lead fills a form on a page we built with GoHighLevel funnel building, the contact record, the source attribution and the first follow-up message all fire from the same platform. There is no webhook to debug at 11pm.

  • Lead source and UTM data land on the contact record without a middleware layer.
  • Follow-up over SMS, WhatsApp and email is configured once and reused across campaigns.

The honest weakness: GoHighLevel pages are heavier than a hand-built page and you have less control over the markup. For most lead-gen campaigns that tradeoff is worth it. For a few it is not, which brings us to the fourth option.

When does a coded Next.js page beat every builder?

When ad spend is high enough that page speed moves the cost per lead. Drag-and-drop builders ship a page loader, a rendering runtime and their own analytics before your headline appears. A coded page ships the headline, the form and nothing else, which is the difference between passing and failing Core Web Vitals on a mid-range Android phone.

Google's Core Web Vitals thresholds are specific: Largest Contentful Paint at or under 2.5 seconds, Interaction to Next Paint at or under 200 milliseconds, and Cumulative Layout Shift at or under 0.1. Hitting all three consistently on a builder-generated page is possible but fragile. On a page you control end to end, it is a design decision you make once.

"If a client is spending more on a month of ads than a landing page build costs, we stop arguing about builders and just code it," says Rehdhil Siyad, founder of Neogen Media. "At that spend level, half a second of load time is worth more than the entire build fee."

The tradeoff is iteration speed. Every headline change is a deploy. We usually solve that by coding the page and wiring the form straight to the CRM, so marketers still control the follow-up. That is exactly what our landing page development service covers.

How does your landing page builder affect Google Ads costs?

Directly. Landing page experience is one of the three components Google Ads uses to calculate Quality Score, alongside expected click-through rate and ad relevance. A slow, generic page drags Quality Score down, which raises what you pay for the same ad position. The builder you choose is a media buying decision, not just a design one.

Google has also confirmed that page experience signals including Core Web Vitals feed its ranking systems organically. A heavy builder page can cost you twice. If you are running performance marketing at scale, speed-test your landing page template before you renew any builder subscription.

What integrations actually matter for Indian lead generation?

Most global comparisons list integrations as logos. For a business generating leads in India, only a handful matter, and they are usually awkward on the tools that dominate these search results.

  • WhatsApp routing: a lead who fills a form at 9pm expects a WhatsApp message, not an email. Check whether this needs a paid third-party connector.
  • Razorpay or UPI checkout: if the page sells anything, foreign-first builders often route you through Stripe, which is not the path of least resistance here.
  • Server-side conversion tracking: browser-only pixels under-report. Check whether the builder lets you fire a server-side event or pass a click ID through to your CRM.

Where a builder falls short, we bridge the gap with n8n workflows rather than switching platforms. That is usually cheaper than a migration, but it is a cost, and it belongs in the comparison.

What happens when you want to leave a landing page builder?

You rebuild. That is the honest answer, and no vendor puts it on their pricing page. Exported HTML from a visual builder carries the builder's own class names, scripts and structure, so it rarely drops cleanly into another system. Budget a rebuild, not a migration.

This matters most for what you accumulate over years: variant history, conversion data, form submissions. Before committing to a platform, check what you can export, in what format, and whether your historical lead data leaves with you.

So which landing page builder do we pick?

For a client running steady paid campaigns with a sales team on the other end, GoHighLevel, because the follow-up matters more than the page. For a brand-led site where the landing page is part of the design system, Webflow. For a high-tempo testing operation, Unbounce. For a high-spend campaign where speed is the constraint, a coded Next.js page.

The mistake we see most often is not picking the wrong tool. It is picking a tool that assumes a workflow the team does not have: buying a testing platform and never testing, or buying a design tool nobody on staff can drive. Match the builder to how your team works this quarter, not how you hope it will work next year.

If you want a second opinion on what your current setup is costing you, talk to us about your campaign. We will look at your existing pages, your ad spend and your follow-up, and tell you whether the builder is the problem or whether it is something further down the funnel.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the best free landing page builder?

For a genuinely free option, Carrd handles simple single-purpose pages well, and Wix, Canva and HubSpot all offer free tiers. The limits are usually custom domains, branding removal and integrations. Free tiers work for validating an idea. They do not work for a campaign where you need a custom domain, a working CRM connection and clean conversion tracking.

Do I need a landing page builder if I already have a website?

Usually yes, for paid campaigns. A homepage is built to serve every visitor, which makes it a poor destination for an ad targeting one specific intent. A dedicated landing page removes navigation and competing calls to action. You can build these inside your existing site rather than on a separate tool, which is often the cleaner option if your site is already fast.

Is GoHighLevel good for landing pages?

Yes, for lead generation specifically. Its funnel builder is not the most refined design tool available, but it connects the page directly to the CRM, automated follow-up and booking calendar without any integration layer. For campaigns where response time drives conversion, that connection is worth more than pixel-level design control.

Can I build a landing page without any builder?

Yes. A coded page in Next.js or plain HTML gives you the fastest possible load times and full control over markup and tracking. It costs more up front and every edit needs a developer. This makes sense when ad spend is high enough that page speed materially changes your cost per lead, and less sense when you are iterating copy weekly.

Does landing page speed affect Google Ads cost?

Yes. Landing page experience is one of three inputs to Google Ads Quality Score, and load speed is part of how it is assessed. A low Quality Score raises what you pay for the same ad position. Google's Core Web Vitals thresholds are a practical target: LCP under 2.5 seconds, INP under 200 milliseconds, CLS under 0.1.

How much does a custom landing page cost in India?

It varies widely with scope, integrations and whether tracking and CRM wiring are included. The more useful comparison is against your subscription cost over three years plus the ad spend affected by page speed. For a campaign spending steadily every month, a one-time build often costs less over that window than a recurring builder subscription.
